《新加坡華文銘刻匯編1819—1911》通過(guò)嚴(yán)謹(jǐn)?shù)膶W(xué)術(shù)考證、釋讀和整理，將1819至1911年新加坡華文銘刻文物資料匯編成冊(cè)，收錄銘刻文物一千余件，包括碑刻、匾額、楹聯(lián)等，以圖文并茂的史料呈現(xiàn)近代新加坡華人的歷史。

丁荷生，著名漢學(xué)家，現(xiàn)為新加坡國(guó)立大學(xué)中文系主任。與鄭振滿合編《莆田的儀式聯(lián)盟》（2卷），《福建宗教碑銘匯編》泉州府分冊(cè)、興化府分冊(cè)。著有《三一教的教主》《中國(guó)東南的道教儀式與民間信仰》等。

許源泰，博士，現(xiàn)為新加坡國(guó)立大學(xué)中文系高級(jí)研究員，新加坡南洋理工學(xué)院兼職講師。著有《沿革與模式：新加坡道教和佛教傳播研究》，合編《新加坡漢傳佛教發(fā)展概述》。

爲(wèi)學(xué)之道，切忌游惰與心志紛張。學(xué)者有三絕：一、絕不攀附權(quán)貴，做無(wú)謂酬應(yīng)，捧

足獻(xiàn)淺，有褻筆墨；二、學(xué)術(shù)乃千秋之業(yè)，絕不與空學(xué)蟲豸之輩爭(zhēng)一日之勝，浪擲時(shí)光；三，

絕不貪圖虛名高位，終生不學(xué)，一曲吹江湖。如此，學(xué)人始能摒絕塵氛，平居兀坐，心凈

意專，全心鑽硏。有此三絕外，學(xué)人尚須是“傻”人一介。國(guó)學(xué)大師饒宗頤教授曾云：“真

正做學(xué)問(wèn)的人很多，我不擔(dān)心學(xué)問(wèn)會(huì)中斷。但是像我這樣做學(xué)問(wèn)的人就不一定會(huì)有，因爲(wèi)

那麼‘傻’去鑽研一些連很多專家看起來(lái)都覺(jué)得無(wú)聊的問(wèn)題究竟幹甚麼？又沒(méi)有錢賺?！?1

饒先生一生確實(shí)做了諸多“傻”事，其一即於擔(dān)任新加坡大學(xué)（即今新加坡國(guó)立大學(xué)）中

文系系主任期間，獨(dú)具慧眼，爲(wèi)我國(guó)搜羅乏人問(wèn)津、任其湮沒(méi)之華文碑銘文字，撰成《星

馬華文碑刻繫年》長(zhǎng)文，啟此風(fēng)氣之先，掀新馬華人史研究之新篇章。

一八九二年，法國(guó)學(xué)者高第（Henri Cordier，1849—1925）有言，漢學(xué)研究須兼顧文獻(xiàn)

訓(xùn)練與田野考察，於進(jìn)行語(yǔ)文學(xué)研究之同時(shí)，亦得注重碑銘學(xué)與考古學(xué)之進(jìn)展。誠(chéng)然，檔案

史書記載或有遺脫，以金石爲(wèi)載體的碑刻文字時(shí)或可補(bǔ)紙質(zhì)文獻(xiàn)之不足，或糾核其中之謬

誤。一九七六年，余於澳洲國(guó)立大學(xué)治東漢安帝災(zāi)異，取漢碑文字、馬王堆出土文獻(xiàn)與官方

正史比讀，時(shí)有新發(fā)見與詮釋。一九七八年，余學(xué)成回叻，目睹城市重建，破廟朽宇相續(xù)

夷爲(wèi)平地，其內(nèi)之碑刻文物相繼湮沒(méi)，無(wú)不深感痛惜。後得陳鐵凡（1912—1992）、傅吾康

（Wolfgang Franke，1912—2007）、日本日比野丈夫諸先生之激勵(lì)，出於公民與史學(xué)者之義職，

余步饒、陳、傅等先生之後塵，幹此等“傻”事。勞形案牘之暇，隻身寡儔，走訪古廟舊宇，

跋涉荒野墳陵，搜録碑刻文字；於茫茫學(xué)海上，一葉扁舟，妄編《馬六甲、新加坡華文碑

文輯録》、《叻峨嘈五虎祠義士新義》及撰論文多篇。

三十多年後，竟有學(xué)者願(yuàn)繼此寂寞之學(xué)，可敬可嘉。異域著名漢學(xué)家丁教授荷生博士

多年專研道教與中國(guó)民間宗教，譽(yù)滿天下，著録繁夥，精博可傳，曾與中國(guó)廈門大學(xué)教授

鄭振滿先生進(jìn)行長(zhǎng)達(dá)二十多年之田野考察，合編《福建宗教碑銘彙編》七大冊(cè)。今又遠(yuǎn)道

南來(lái)，與我國(guó)佛教史家許博士源泰先生，費(fèi)數(shù)年之心力，遍訪新加坡華人廟宇、會(huì)館等機(jī)構(gòu)，

搜羅碑刻文字，仿傅吾康、陳鐵凡《馬來(lái)西亞華文銘刻萃編》之體例，成此不朽偉構(gòu)，以

貽後賢。此誠(chéng)震耀我國(guó)史壇之第一盛事。丁、許二君更以此鴻篇鉅製敬獻(xiàn)予所有新加坡人，

國(guó)人之榮光，莫大于是。

《新加坡華文碑刻彙編：1819—1911》卷帙繁巨，厚達(dá)一千五百頁(yè)，輯録金石文字凡

一千二百多件，圖文并茂。展卷拜讀，驚嘆不已。要搜集數(shù)量如此之多、品種如此之雜的

碑刻文字，良不易易。之所以能成就者，乃丁、許二君堅(jiān)忍不拔之志。二君蒐羅裒輯之功，

實(shí)不可沒(méi)。

《彙編》廣集散材，搜葺陳編，核其異同，訂誤補(bǔ)缺，發(fā)先賢未盡之蘊(yùn)，繼往開來(lái)，

傳播後世，爲(wèi)他日學(xué)者構(gòu)建雲(yún)屋之素材。其在新馬華文碑刻研究史上，雖非嚆矢，卻是曠

世大著，可謂青出于藍(lán)而勝于藍(lán)也。其值得大書者有三：
